Informationen

The study programme is designed to build vocational pedagogical competencies. In addition, professional language skills in English are promoted. The programme aims at developing scientific and methodological skills and competences as well as practical qualifications for professions in Technical Vocational Education (TVET). The program is also designed to support other countries in modernising their vocational training systems and German companies in training skilled workers in their partner countries.

The course is offered in English; it is internationally oriented and trains specialists and managers in public institutions (ministries, subordinate institutions, etc.), vocational school teachers, trainers and further education staff in companies as well as company-internal and inter-company educational institutions already active in this field or planning to be in the future. Further target groups include vocational training researchers who can support the management of higher education institutions with the acquired expertise in the academic field, as well as academia and institutes providing further education and general vocational training research. Graduates of the study program a qualified to seek employment in the design of vocational schools, vocational education policy and educational guidance, state education administration, international education work or adult education and (inter-)company ongoing education. Other fields of work include personnel and organizational development in companies or education management at associations, chambers and public institutions.

Practice-oriented Study
Our professors possess profound experiences in their relevant domain. They incorporate their networks into the lectures with a strong focus on practical elements.The course consists of lectures, seminars and excursions. In addition, eLearning (up to 25 % of study time) and online lectures provide flexibility and individuality.

Course of Study
Upon completion of the master's programme, graduates have acquired knowledge of the social conditions of vocational schools, teaching and vocational teacher education. They are able to design vocational teaching and learning processes, develop and promote individual educational processes and are schooled in vocational science. They have the ability to plan, implement and reflect on learning sequences based on didactic models and concepts as well as curriculum theory considerations.

They possess subject and school type-related knowledge and skills in the processes of teaching and learning as well as in the theory-based planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching in the vocational field. They are capable of accessing both the practical field of teaching at vocational schools as well as areas of extracurricular educational practice.

Graduates have an in-depth scientific understanding of central topics and issues in vocational education and can systematically and scientifically address relevant topics and issues in vocational education in order to contribute to theory development. They have a vocational pedagogically reflected know-how of central specifications and developments in vocational education and are able to describe, compare and evaluate national and international developments in vocational education.
